When is the best time to go Southern Utah and Northern Arizona?
The climate in this part of the Southwest is arid mid-elevation desert, and the most pleasant times of year are fall and spring. Our adventure operates in April, May, September and October. How should I train for my hiking adventure?
The best training for this trip is hiking. Work up from 5 to 8 miles of hiking with your daypack loaded with the same weight and items you will be carrying on our day hikes. Is the private van air-conditioned?
Yes. Ride in style in MT Sobek's fully air-conditioned 15 passenger van. What is glamping?
Short for “glamorous camping,” glamping on this trip means you can experience nature while sleeping in spacious safari-style tents equipped with the creature comforts of home. We work closely with both Under Canvas and ULUM Moab and here's why it is an incredible experience:
- Sleep in tented luxury among juniper woodlands and enjoy upscale safari-style accommodation, with ensuite rainfall showers and flush toilets. At night, snuggle into a comfortable bed with luxurious linens and enjoy the soft crackling of your wood stove. Sip gourmet coffee on your private deck as morning light fills your tent. From the West Elm-curated lobby tents, you'll discover that luxury and the outdoors are perfectly intertwined_an experience that enchants even non-campers.
- Disconnect from devices and reconnect with friends and family. Our selected glamping resorts are more than a place to rest your head. They are designed to encourage guests to stay off their phones and share experiences in the outdoors with those around them. Instead of Wi-Fi, often you'll find board games, yoga classes, live music, and s'mores in the evening around a community firepit. “It sets us apart from a standard hotel,” says Stephen Nelson, a guest experience manager for Under Canvas. “We like to send people off with lifelong memories.”
- Avoid the bustling national park restaurants and enjoy serene dining with delicious healthy breakfasts or dinners at the camps. Wake to enjoy everything from French toast and breakfast burritos to acai bowls. Dinner features diverse items like sun-dried tomato Caesar salads, burgers, and pan-roasted trout.
The standard minimum age for this trip is 18 but check out our private trip options for families and groups with younger guests.
